The category of physical co-presence, carried out during a live meeting, gained particular importance during the global pandemic. The lack of the possibility of sharing an experience manifests itself most glaringly in theatre, or ‒ to put it more generally ‒ in the performing arts. Various forms of performances are now available on the Internet on an unprecedented scale, which undoubtedly extends the previously known methods of communicating through the worlds of stage. In this issue, we want to look at the palette of opportunities for shared experience that became popular during the pandemic in Poland and abroad. We are particularly interested in individual practices, adopted by stage artists and theatre institutions. At the same time, we propose a more theoretical view of the category of physical co-presence, also in relation to the rapidly progressing mediatisation of contemporary art and culture.
