Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

With reverence for best scholarly practices and care for the social responsibility of the academic community, the editorial board of the quarterly magazine Tekstualia. Palimpsesty Literackie Artystyczne Naukowe (Tekstualia. Literary Artistic Academic Palimpsests) requires all editors, authors and reviewers to adhere to the ethical policy of the journal at all stages of publishing.

 

The standards of publication ethics and academic integrity in the quarterly magazine Tekstualia. Palimpsesty Literackie Artystyczne Naukowe comply with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

 

I

Editorial office functioning rules

 

‒ During the editorial work, we implement procedures ensuring optimal substantive and editorial quality of the scientific articles presented in the journal. 

‒ No commercial considerations may affect editorial decisions regarding the evaluation of proposed materials for publication.

 

II

Rules applicable to authors

‒ Authors of materials proposed for publication are obliged to guarantee the full originality of their texts. 

‒ Authors are obliged to make a declaration that the text submitted for publication is an original work that does not violate any of the copyright provisions (Copyright is expressly stated in accordance with the Copyright Act).

‒ In the case of two or more authors of one article, the authors determine the percentage of their own  contribution. 

‒ The author is obliged to make a declaration concerning the transfer of non-excluded copyright to the publisher and granting the publisher a license to distribute the article in all fields of exploitation.

‒ The author is obliged to make a declaration that he/she consents to the processing of personal data (GDPR).

The review process rules

‒ Academic articles submitted by the authors for publication in the quarterly magazine Tekstualia. Palimpsesty Literackie Artystyczne Naukowe are subject to a review procedure (vide https://tekstualia.pl/pl/opismie/zasady). 

– The review procedure for the above-mentioned texts is two-stage. 

‒ The review procedure consists of: internal and external review. 

‒ Internal review is prepared by editorial members appointed by the Editor-in-Chief. 

‒ Positive feedback in an internal review results in the text being forwarded to external reviews. 

‒ During the external review procedure, each academic article is evaluated by two independent reviewers in double-blind peer review mode.

‒ Reviewers are required to be objective and to include the arguments justifying the assessment of the article in question in their reviews. 

‒ Reviewers should have the necessary knowledge ensuring adequate evaluation of the article.

‒ Decisions taken during the review process shall remain confidential.

 

IV

The publishing process rules

‒ It is the responsibility of the editor and publisher to protect personal data. 

‒ Ethical and intellectual standards are maintained during the publishing process. 

‒ The integrity of academic terminology and editorial standards is maintained.

Anti-Plagiarism rules

‒ Editors use all possible means to detect plagiarism. 

‒ The editorial board opposes and counteracts the phenomena of “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship” (vide https://tekstualia.pl/pl/opismie/instrukcje).

In accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (published June 2, 2015), the editors of Tekstualia have the following review policy:

1. Each publication is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers, who are not affiliated with the same institution as the author is.
2. The review process is of a double-blind type. If this is not the case, the reviewer should sign a declaration that there is no conflict of interests, whereby a conflict of interests is understood the existence of direct personal relations between author and reviewer (especially kinship to the second degree or marriage), of professional connections, and of direct scholarly cooperation in the two years preceding the year in which the review is written.
3. The written review must contain a clear judgment of the reviewer relating to the advisability of publishing or rejecting the submitted article.
4. The criteria for publication or rejection of a submission, and any review form, is to be made publicly available on the journal’s website and in each number of the journal.
5. The names of reviewers of individual publications or numbers of the journal are  not to be made public.
6. The journal publishes any information given by authors relating to sources of finance for research presented in articles or circumstances germane to the writing of articles.
7. The Editors of Tekstualia employ anti-ghostwriting procedures to ensure the originality of submitted articles

 

Reviewers of individual numbers employ the following criteria in their evaluations of submitted articles:

• the appropriateness of the article to the topic of the number;
• the innovatory quality of the research presented in the article;
• the originality of results;
• familiarity with the relevant state of research;
• methodological awareness;
• logical argumentation;
• clear composition of the article;
• an appropriately scholarly style.

 

The editors of “Tekstualia” will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred. In no case shall we encourage such misconduct, or knowingly allow such misconduct to take place. Whenever the editors of “Tekstualia” recognize some kind of research misconduct, they shall deal with allegations appropriately. This includes publishing the same research in more than one journal.

The editors of “Tekstualia” declare to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies whenever it is needed. All authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes. See our guidelines. Publication ethics and academic integrity standards in force in the quarterly are in line with the guidelines of the Publication Ethics Committee.

Copyright and License

“Tekstualia” requires that, before manuscript acceptance, authors sign a license agreement granting our publisher, Dom Kultury Śródmieście, non-exclusive rights to use and authorize use of their contribution. The authors retain copyright as well as rights to make certain uses of the work, which are described in detail in the instruction for authors. Authors should read this information sheet before signing the agreement.
