The Problem of Over-Interpretation: „The Tender Offer of Literature” and the Answer

The article shows a paradoxical status of over-interpretation in contemporary literarystudies. This category is still very important in literary and cultural research. However, questions arise regarding the limits of interpretation. Maurice Blanchot’s metaphor of „the tender offer of literature” is evoked so as to express this dilemma and to suggest a return to the old-fashioned categories of the intentions of reading and the intentions of the text.
