Levy Shimon
is Professor Emeritus at the Tel Aviv University Theater Department, and was its chairman. His publications include books on Samuel Beckett’s dramatic works and on Jewish and Hebrew drama and Theatre. His book Israeli Theatre (2016) appeared fi rst in Ramalla, in Arabic (2007). His The Bible as Theatre was translated into English and Polish. Levy has published articles in Hebrew, English and German; translated, edited and introduced play collections by Beckett, Pinter, Tabori and others. He was dramaturg for the Habimah Theatre and the Jerusalem Khan Theater, and has translated over 140 plays into Hebrew, all of Beckett’s drama included. He has directed for radio and theatre in Israel, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Canada and was the artistic director of the alternative Israeli Theatre festival.
