Wiendl Jan
(Charles University in Prague), (born 1969), doc. PhD, literature history scholar, editor. His areas of interest focus primarily on the issues of Czech literature of the first half of the 20th century in regard to modernism and the avant-garde. He studied Bohemistics and History at the Faculty of Philosophy at the Charles University in Prague (1988‒1993). He was an employee of the Institute of Czech literature at the Czech Academy of Sciences (1993‒1997). Since 1997 he has been working at the Faculty of Languages at the Charles University (since 2008 he has held the position of assistant professor). He was an editor for the Česká literatura magazine (1998‒2002). In 2004 together with Libuša Heczkova and Josef Vojvodík he founded the Slovo a smysl magazine, which publishes texts regarding interdisciplinary Bohemistic studies. His published works are i.a.: the Vizionáři a vyznavači monograph (2007) and Hledači krásy a řádu (2014). He took part in the “Dějiny nové moderny” project as an author and the chief editor. Since 2009 he has held the position of the Director of the Institue of Czech Literature and Comparative Studies at the Faculty of Languages at the Charles University in Prague.
