Terentowicz-Fotyga Urszula

(Maria Curie-Skłodowska University), PhD hab., Head of the Department of English Literature at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, English literature and cultural studies graduate, founder of the Intercollegiate Team for Research on the Semiotics of Space and co-organiser of Signifying Spaces conference. Her academic area of research includes semiotics of space, the 20th century and contemporary British literature and culture, manorial tradition from the 19th century to the present day, representations of the city, as well as dystopia in literature, film and culture. Her didactic work is focused mainly on the 19th and 20th century British literature, postmodernism, contemporary literature and film, and popular culture genres. She is the author of Dreams, Nightmares and Empty Signifiers: The English Country House in the Contemporary Novel (2015), Semiotyka przestrzeni kobiecych w powieściach Virginii Woolf (2006). She has also edited Space in Literature: Method, Genre, Topos (2018) as well as numerous articles on contemporary literature, film and cultural theories.
