Khairov Shamil

(University of Glasgow, UK), (born 1958), PhD, member of the Russian Photographers Association. He was a teacher at the Trinity College in Dublin. Since 2005 he has been a professor at the Faculty of Slavonic Studies at the University of Glasgow. He is a widely appreciated photographer with numerous solo exhibitions in Glasgow (2007–2010), Edinburgh (2009) and Ostrava (2012). His photographs have been published in various British professional journals and have been used as illustrations in numerous poetry books. He often attends the meetings of Scottish photographic organisations, at which he is frequently a guest speaker. He is regularly invited to meetings devoted to Russian visual arts in Finland, Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic. He is fluent in several Slavic languages, e.g. Polish.
